Dry flies imitate terrestrial insects and it is very exciting to see a trout rising and taking floating insects. Trout rise to many insects from caenids to duns, hoppers, ants, gum beetles and more.
A few must haves for your fly box when fly fishing are Black Spinners, Shaving Brushes, Royal Wulffs, Duns and for many a Red Tag.
Some fly fishers think presentation is more important than imitation and happily go through a season with just a couple of different flies in a variety of sizes.
